Star Trek Beyond

Hi everyone.  I went to watch Star Trek Beyond just now.  It just came out here in the UK.  I won't say that I am a huge fan of Star Trek but considering I've seen the previous two, I thought of just continue to watch this one as well.  Also, I just wanted to see Anton Yelchin in the last movie he will ever appear in since he died just recently.  He was the actor that played Chekov.  I have to admit, he was one of the characters in Star Trek that I like to see, so to learn the news of his death was rather shocking, and really sad.  It seems that Star Trek Beyond became a tribute to him, and it's a good thing he had a bigger role in this one and we got to see more of him.

Generally, this is quite a good film.  I won't say it blew my mind away, but at the same time it was at par with the other two films of this reboot series.  I think the plot took off rather well, and the pace on how the story unfolds was done pretty good too.  It's suitable for people of all sorts of minds as it is not too complex and quite straightforward.  The interactions between Spock and Dr. McCoy were pretty entertaining and became a light comedic relief to the quite serious plot.  I got to see more of Chekov as I mentioned previously, and I like how he has more significant to the journey and really got to shine and show his potential to audience.

The villain Krall was a badass villain too, a typical kind of villain for this kind of movie, but it works as that's what people are looking for anyway.  The new character, Jaylah, if I'm not mistaken, was a nice addition to the team as well.  I think she is a strong character and definitely has the strength to be part of the Star Trek family.  Lastly, I must add about the scoring; I think Michael Giacchino did a wonderful job in writing the music for this film.  It definitely made the overall movie experience a lot better and I admit the film will not be as epic as it already is without the good scoring by Mr. Giacchino.

Will I recommend this movie?  Yes, but it will be so much better if you've seen the first two Star Trek from this reboot series.  Because as the movies progress, so do the relationship between the characters and I think you will get a better understanding of the interaction between them if you've seen all of the films prior to this one.  At least the reboot one.  If I am to rate this movie from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, I will give this movie 7/10.  Until next time, toodles~ ^_^
